About Us

Ask anyone who walked through the doors on W Buffalo Street for the first time and they'll tell you the same thing: it feels like somewhere people actually know each other. That's not an accident. Elks Lodge 609 has been building that kind of community in Rawlins for generations, and the 4.7-star rating from members and guests reflects something real, not a marketing campaign.

The Lodge runs on two engines: generosity and good company. When a family in Carbon County hit a rough patch last Christmas, the Lady Elks showed up at their door with presents for the kids, unannounced and without fanfare. That's the kind of organization this is. The bar, the events, the Friday evening crowd gathered around Ashley, all of it exists to fund and fuel that mission.

Membership keeps the circle tight and the atmosphere genuine. You can walk in as a guest up to three times, or as a traveling Elk from any lodge in the country, and you'll be treated like you belong. Most people who visit that way end up applying for membership shortly after.

What We Offer

The Lodge at 403 W Buffalo St offers a full-service members bar with a relaxed, neighborhood atmosphere. Friday evenings draw a regular crowd, and the staff, including longtime bartender Ashley, keep things friendly and unhurried. It's a place to decompress after a long week, not a place that rushes you out.

Beyond the bar, Elks Lodge 609 runs active community programs year-round. Holiday gift drives, charitable giving to local families, and support for veterans and youth initiatives are all part of the BPOE mission carried out locally. Members gain access to events, lodge facilities, and the broader Elks national network, which means reciprocal visiting privileges at lodges across the United States.

"The Lady Elks came by and delivered several Christmas presents for my daughter. It was unexpected and a true blessing. This has been a very hard year for my family and their generosity turned what was going to be a disappointing Christmas for my daughter into one I'll forever remember. Thank you so much especially for the magic of the presents saying from Santa. She's a believer and this would have been the year the majic died for her but thanks to those ladies it didn't."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
